Scientists speculation is that mainly male manta rays jump out of the water to attract the attention of the females – the bigger the male manta ray is and the more powerful it falls back into the water the movements of the ocean increases and it’s more likely a female notices it.
Their mating ritual is to perform a mating train, where several male rays follow one female manta, all of them trying to impress her and become her first choice to mate.
Manta rays are ovoviviparous – they develop inside eggs and when the egg shell breaks open, the mama manta will eventually calve a new born. So they are fish but give birth like a mammal. Pregnancy lasts for more than one year – usually only one pup at a time!

LIVE “Coral Planting event“ ON RANNALHI

Together with our friend diving journalist Daniel Brinckmann, in collaboration with Adaaran Club Rannalhi & all our team & the whole Divepoint family, once again we will plant corals. These nursery-grown corals can be used not only to help reefs damaged by groundings, storms or pollution but those harmed by changing ocean conditions as well.

We want to share and show what we do every day at our dive center on Rannalhi.

OUr Guesthouse on Fuvahmulah is READY FOR DIVERS

In June 2022 we opened our guesthouse "Divepoint Residence" on Fuvahmulah. With this we have created a place where Divepoint divers are among themselves and can end the days together with freshly cooked food. Everything is designed for the divers daily routine.
The guesthouse is located in the south of the islands and is only 400m from the dive center and 600m from the harbor and our dive boat.

The 6 air-conditioned rooms have been freshly renovated and the furniture made from local coconut palm. On request, our own restaurant serves 3 fresh meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), coordinated with our dive center, so there are no long waits. Of course, a touch of German thoroughness always resonates.

World Ocean Day 2021 - Together we make the difference

June 8, 2021 - For this year's World Ocean Day we organized a clean up day together with the resort staff, guests and divers. MANTA OF THE MONTH CONTEST

June 1, 2021 - We are super excited to introduce you the new photo contest, where the winner will get ONE DIVE FOR FREE, see his picture posted on our website, Instagram & Facebook page. The month of June’s theme is MANTA RAY, the beautiful creature Divepoint Maldives choose a symbol on the logo.

How it works:
Send us your best pictures of Manta Rays taken during your stay with us, possibly with highlight on the stomach so we can clearly identify the creature. We will check with Manta Trust if this Manta is already registered in their data base if not they can still give him a name.
These photos are presented on our DivePointMaldives Facebook page for one month. During this presentation time everyone, visiting the Facebook page can vote for the “best” picture by liking his/her chosen photo. By end of the month we will count the likes and publish the winner Photo (including name and/or watermark of the photographer).

New Divepoint Fuvahmulah is open and ready to take you underwater

Welcome to the new Divepoint Center on Fuvahmulah which is located on the equator between two South Atolls - Addu and Huvadhoo.
Our new boat is ready and our amazing team who was working on it since a while, finally took it down to the south just in time for the opening. Our boats are equipped with the Electronic Rescue and Locating System ENOS, the safest equipment on the market to protect our divers from any possibility to get lost. ENOS combines GPS-Navigation and Radio Frequency. It is independent of external technologies. It is absolutely autonomous and does not require support from SAR (Search And Rescue) or Coast Guards. The crew of the dive boat can initiate the rescue operation immediately. A big advantage, especially in remote areas and during dive-safaris.
Divepoint Maldives are the first diving center in the Maldives providing this extra service free of charge. For us your safety matters, always !

At the moment the Interdive 2020 is taking place in Friedrichshafen from 24 to 27 September 2020. And we will also be there again in hall B5, booth 208!

Maldive’s 1st Resort with the best safety for divers

Bergisch Gladbach/Male‘ - Since years Maldives are highly desirable to divers. Here, the Indian Ocean shows off its best side, thanks to the warm nutritious water and to currents. But specifically the last point may change an eventful dive into a horror trip – when divers are swept away by currents and not found anymore. Large-scale search operations are the result which do not always end successfully …

That will now come to an end for Marcus Hauck, owner of dive center “DivePoint” located on island Rannalhi in the South-Male atoll. Since March 2020 he has ENOS onboard, the electronic rescue system for divers. > Read press release
